Pandora |
Pandora, a free music listening service, alludes itself to the first woman on Earth, according to Greek mythology, Pandora. Pandora, as curious and adventurous as she was, she opened a box her husband, Prometheus, told her not to do. All of the evils were unleashed into the world, and all that was left in the box was hope. The creator of the service pandora wanted to convey that you could be forced to listen to anything, but once you found the perfect station, pandora is blissful, such as the hope left in the box.

Hermes and His Caduceus
Hospitals use this staff with wings and snakes spiraling around it, Hermes' Caduceus, for more that just decoration. Hermes' one job was to deliver care packages to the children of the gods and goddesses to make sure they survived treacherous journey's ahead of them. The reason this caduceus is in front of hospitals, on doctor badges, and other medical equipment is that it symbolized a quick recovery and good health for the rest of life's "journey."

The Olympians and Olympics
The Olympics are a contest of what the human body can do, and the Olympians were gods that could do anything. The reason the Olympics was probably named after the Olympians was because of the people in this competition of many different sports and activities could do things no one else could do, making them almost god-like, hence the name for athletes in this tournament, Olympians.
